villa1The village Chharba lies in the picturesque Doon valley, between the Shivaliks and the Himalayas in the Dehradun district of Uttarakhand State. The village is located in the Sahaspur Block and is about 25 kms. North-west of Dehradun on the Chakrata road. This village is the largest in the area spread over a radius of 5-7km. As per the 2001 census, the total population of village Chharba is 12,592 (6,817 males and 5,775 females). The total population density is 126 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio of village is 847 females per 1000 males. About 30% of village Chharba is under forest cover. 

The land use pattern indicates that about 60% of the total area is under cultivation, out of which about 26% is under irrigation. The main occupation of the people of this area is farming. The prime source of water for cultivation is through rainwater. There are no proper medical facilities in this village and it's surrounding areas and the nearest Primary Heathcare Centre is about 10 kms away.villa

 

  • ADOPT adopted village Chharba in Dehradun district to improve rural living standards through Education, Health and Hygiene Awareness.

  • ADOPT has built an eight bed Field Hospital in the village for Immediate & Emergency Medical Services

  • ADOPT has started a Vocational Training Centre for the rural children for developing Technical/Educational skills in the fields of Computer Training, Plumbing, Carpentry, Electrical Wiring, Tailoring, Motor Mechanism, Candle Making, Basket Making, Knitting, Pickle & Jam Making etc to help the rural youth find employment

  • ADOPT has started a Computer Training Centre in village Chharba for Basic Training in Computers. Special classes are held every Sunday for ADULT Education in Computers

  • ADOPT participates and facilitates in a large number of activities including organizing medical camps, performing children surgeries, spreading education amongst villagers, providing infrastructure for rooftop rainwater harvesting, drinking water distribution, environment protection, women empowerment and health and hygiene awareness in the Village Chharba.
