The village Chharba lies in the picturesque Doon valley, between the Shivaliks and the Himalayas in the Dehradun district of Uttarakhand State. The village is located in the Sahaspur Block and is about 25 kms. North-west of Dehradun on the Chakrata road. This village is the largest in the area spread over a radius of 5-7km. As per the 2001 census, the total population of village Chharba is 12,592 (6,817 males and 5,775 females). The total population density is 126 people per square kilometre. The sex ratio of village is 847 females per 1000 males. About 30% of village Chharba is under forest cover.
The land use pattern indicates that about 60% of the total area is under cultivation, out of which about 26% is under irrigation. The main occupation of the people of this area is farming. The prime source of water for cultivation is through rainwater. There are no proper medical facilities in this village and it's surrounding areas and the nearest Primary Heathcare Centre is about 10 kms away.
